Galaxy Watch 4 Body Components Measurement Accuracy Specialized Device Level
A study found that Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy Watch 4’s body composition measurement performance is as accurate as a professional measuring device.
According to industry sources on the 15th, Pennington Bio, Louisiana State University, USAMedical Research Institute and the University of Hawaii Cancer Center said in a recently published paper titled “Accuracy of Body Composition Measurement of Smart Watches” that body composition levels measured with Galaxy Watch 4 were highly correlated with those measured with clinical device body composition standard equipment (DXA) and bioelectrical resistance measurement (BIA).
This paper was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (AJCN), a famous journal in the field of biology and medicine.
The researchers measured the body composition of six items (34 men and 41 women) using Watch4 and compared it with the measurements of professional measuring devices. As a result of the study, the correlation between Watch4 and body composition levels measured by professional measuring devices was at least 93%, and at most 98%.
Watch 4 and Watch 5 are equipped with a body composition (BIA) measurement function. The user can measure his or her body composition using a total of four electrodes, including two buttons located on the side and two on the back.
