Google, which has been ordered to ban in-app payments in India, is expected to appeal to the court. However, for now, the plan for “forced application of in-app payments” has been decided to be put on hold, drawing keen attention to whether the popular game Fortnite will be able to return to the Indian Play Store.

Google has decided to appeal to the court in protest of the anti-trust decision of the Indian Competition Commission (CCI), according to the patent site Pospatents on the 2nd (local time).

Earlier, CCI pointed out, “App developers absolutely rely on Google, and device manufacturers also have no choice but to sign contracts that are not negotiable or fail in the market,” adding, “For this reason, consumers are being bound to the Android ecosystem.”

CCI judged that Google’s actions such as forcing in-app payments and preferential treatment of its apps constitute a violation of the Antimonopoly Act.

Google, which originally planned to apply only its own payment method in the Indian market from October 31, put off compulsory in-app payments for the time being under CCI’s order.

However, the Postentons reported that they decided to appeal to the court in protest of the CCI decision.

“To see whether the decision to follow the CCI measures came from good faith, you can see if Google allows Fortnite back to the Indian Play Store,” POSCO said while conveying the fact.
