Two types of paralysis prevention stretches when the young neck disc worsens
Throat disc is known to be a common disease among middle-aged people, but attention needs to be paid to the recent increase in the number of patients among young people. According to data from the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, the number of patients with neck disc in Korea has steadily increased, surpassing 1 million last year, and the number of patients in their 20s and 30s has also increased by about 10 percent over the past five years. Neck disc is a condition in which the disc (interference plate) between the neck bone and the bone ruptures or escapes to pressure the nerves. The main symptoms are stiffness and stiffness around the neck, and worsening symptoms accompany numbness in the shoulders, arms and hands. Headaches can occur as muscles in the back of the neck become tense. Lim Jae-hyun, director of the spinal center at Gangnam Nanuri Hospital, said, “Dancing violently or shaking your neck from side to side can cause neck disc,” adding, “Using a smartphone or computer for a long time in the wrong posture can also cause neck disc.” If you tilt your neck just 15 degrees, you will add about 12 kilograms of weight to your neck bone.
The neck disc can be cured early on with preservative treatments such as medication or manual therapy. However, if the symptoms are not alleviated due to neurological abnormalities such as numbness, or preservation treatment, surgical treatment is considered. “If you miss the timing of treatment, you can even experience physical paralysis due to nerve damage to your neck,” said Lim Jae-hyun, head of the institute. “If you have neck pain, you should visit the hospital for medical treatment.”
To prevent neck disc, you should adjust your monitor’s eye level when using a computer and not bend your neck too much when using a smartphone. It is also helpful to do the following stretching whenever you have time.
